Prior to starting at Attend EDC I was a member of the Staffordshire Safeguarding Children’s Board (SSCB) multi – agency training team delivering numerous courses including Level 2 Working Together Multi Agency training, Refresher, Designated Safeguarding Lead, governor training, Allegations against People in Position of Trust and Safer Recruitment training.
Latterly in my position at Staffordshire County Council I was in the position of Education Safeguarding Advice Service (ESAS), working with education providers to give advice on safeguarding issues, identifying early help within the threshold model, unresolved professional disagreement regarding safeguarding issue, managing risk in relation to harmful sexual behaviour and advice on policy and procedure issues. Alongside my ESAS work I delivered Level 2 and above training for the Safeguarding Board. To keep my knowledge up to date I have completed numerous courses and continue to read and research regularly on Education and safeguarding issues.
I have worked in children’s social care and education for 28 years, prior to this I worked with the disabled where I liaised with professionals, voluntary sector & businesses to obtain support for the ‘club’ as it was self-sufficient. I then acquired a position as a residential social work assistant and then field work social work assistant.
In 1996 I started working as an Education Welfare Officer and during this time I enrolled with the Open University where I successfully completed my BSc degree. I have enjoyed the experience of self-study, and also obtained diplomas including Diploma in Health & Social Welfare, Diploma in Education Social Work, Diploma Personal Advisor Connexions and an NVQ 3 in Caring for Children & Young People.
I then decided I would like to complete my Diploma in teaching in Lifelong Learning (DTLLS). To obtain a teaching qualification was my ultimate aim for my own personal development and latterly I have completed my professional formation giving me Qualified Teaching & Learning Status (QTLS).
Since 2004 I have been fortunate to undertaken numerous secondments including, (although in between I have returned to my substantive post of Education Welfare Officer) KS3 student firefighter co-ordinator, CAF (now EHA) trainer, and delivering Level 1 Safeguarding training to schools in Staffordshire including Independent Schools, PGCE students at identified Universities, colleges, ENTRUST staff and governors to ensures that all staff receive training in line with Staffordshire Safeguarding Children’s Boards requirements.
